A worrying message about your page or your music can be stressful. Here's the simple rule: we'll never ask for your password, or ask you to make a payment, in a direct message. If a message pressures you to log in through a link, pay a fee or act within hours, treat it as suspicious and check it with us first.
What this means
Some people send artists messages that look official: from a social network, a "copyright office", or someone claiming to work with us. They want your login details, your money or access to your social accounts. These messages often:
create urgency ("your page will be deleted in 24 hours"),
ask you to log in through a link they send,
ask for a payment, a fee or your card details,
promise results nobody can guarantee, like a set number of streams.
When this applies
Fake Meta "your page will be deleted" emails or DMs. A message says your Facebook or Instagram page breaks copyright or will be disabled, and asks you to "appeal" through a link. Leave the link alone. Open the Facebook or Instagram app yourself and check your account status there. If nothing shows in the app, the message most likely didn't come from Meta.
Fake copyright or legal notices. A message says your song infringes someone's rights and demands payment or your login to "resolve" it. We monitor rights dashboards, and when a claim affects your release, we contact you ourselves. If a notice comes from anyone else, hold off on paying or replying with your details. Forward it to us first, and we'll check it. What to do if someone uploaded or claimed your music
People offering guaranteed streams, followers or playlist placements. Paid services that promise streams often send streams that don't come from real listeners. That's artificial streaming, and it can put your releases and royalties at risk. If it's already happened, see what to do if your release is flagged. See also Artificial streaming and our anti-fraud policy.
Someone claiming to be from The Artist Music Group. We never ask for your password or a payment by DM. Our website and help center are on theartistmusic.com, and you log in at app.theartistmusic.com. If a message sends you to any other address to log in or pay, treat it as suspicious and check with us first.
What you need before you start
Access to your account at app.theartistmusic.com. That's the only address where you log in to The Artist Platform.
Access to the email address or sign-in provider (for example Google) you used to create your account.
Step-by-step
Keep your login safe:
Type app.theartistmusic.com yourself every time you log in, not a link from a message. That way you know you're on the real site.
Use the same sign-in method you signed up with, so you land in the right account. If you created your account with Google, always use Sign in with Google.
Choose a strong password you don't use anywhere else. Keep it to yourself, even if someone says they work for us.
Reset your password straight away if you think someone knows it. Click Forgot your password? on the login page and follow the steps. If you sign in with Google or another provider, change your password with that provider.
Protect the email account you use to log in. Give it a strong password of its own, because it can be used to reset your password.
If you get a suspicious message:
Leave links and attachments unopened, and keep your details to yourself.
Hold off on any payment.
Take a screenshot and note the sender's email address or profile.
Send it to us through the chat in The Artist Platform, so we can check it.
Report the message to the platform it came from, for example by reporting the account on Instagram.
What happens next
We'll check the message and let you know whether it came from us or affects your releases.
If a real rights claim affects your music, we contact you with what we know and what to do next.
If you shared your password, reset it right away and tell us, so we can check your account.
