Contact us with the release's UPC and tell us whether to remove it from all stores or only some. We'll send the request to each store, and each one removes your release at its own pace.
What this means
Sometimes a release needs to come down, and that's fine. Taking a release down removes it from the stores and streaming services where it's live.
Before you do, check whether you really need to. Many changes don't need your release to come down at all:
Wrong text in your release details (metadata), such as a typo in a title or credit, can usually be corrected and sent to stores while your release stays live. Updating and delivering metadata
For the full list, see What you can and can't change after release.
When this applies
The rights to the release have moved to someone else.
The release will be handled by a new distributor.
You no longer want the release available on some or all stores.
Moving to another distributor? Don't take your release down until the new version is live, or your music can disappear for a while. Follow Move from another distributor without losing streams for the right order.
What you need before you start
The UPC of the release. Where to find your UPC
The list of stores to remove it from, or "all stores".
A short reason, for example "rights transferred" or "replacing the audio". It helps us handle your request the right way.
Step-by-step
Find the release's UPC in Distribution on The Artist Platform.
Decide whether it should come down from all stores or only specific ones.
Contact us through the chat in The Artist Platform or at [email protected].
Send the UPC, the stores, and your reason in one message, so we can act on it straight away.
What happens next
We send the request to the stores you named.
Each store removes the release at its own pace, so it can disappear from one store before another. We can't speed up a store's own processing, but we can check your request reached them.
On Spotify, a removed release can still show up greyed out if someone has the direct link. It isn't playable or searchable. Why a release appears live on Spotify after a takedown
Troubleshooting
Problem | What to do |
My release still shows on a store after I asked for it to come down | Some stores take longer than others. If it's still playable after 7 days, contact us with the UPC and a link to the store page. |
It shows on Spotify but greyed out | That's normal. Spotify keeps a placeholder so playlists and links don't break. It isn't playable. |
I only wanted to fix a typo | You may not need to take your release down. See Updating and delivering metadata, or contact us with the UPC and the correction. |
I'm moving to a new distributor | Wait until your release is live with the new distributor before asking us to take it down. See Move from another distributor without losing streams. |
Need help?
