Quick answers to the questions we hear most about getting your music into stores.
How long does it take for my release to reach stores?
Our review takes 1–2 business days. After that, your release can take up to 7 days to be available on every store, depending on each store's backlog. Spotify is often quicker, at 1–3 days. Submit your release at least 5 weeks before your release date.
For the full breakdown and what to do if a store is late, see How long until my release is live?
Can I set up a pre-order?
Yes. When you create your release, set a pre-order start date in the distribution settings. Fans can then order it before release day.
Why is my release on Shazam before the release date?
Shazam often lists a release as soon as it receives it, before the release date. Don't worry: fans can't play the song there until release day. If you'd rather it didn't show up early, leave Shazam unselected until your release date.
Will I lose my chart history, rankings or playlists if I move my music to The Artist Platform?
Usually not, as long as everything stays identical. When the UPC, ISRCs and release details (metadata) match, stores usually merge the new delivery with the old one and keep your ranking and playlist placements. On Spotify, the track length and version details need to match too.
The one exception is Apple Music/iTunes: chart history and popularity are kept, but ratings and reviews are lost.
For the full process, see Move from another distributor without losing streams.
Can I get store codes like an Apple track ID or a Spotify URI?
Yes. Whenever a store provides a URI or web link, we collect it and show it in Distribution. Need a code before release day? Contact us with your release's UPC so we can find it straight away. Ask once your release has been delivered to that store; before that, the store doesn't have it yet. How to get your Spotify URI before the release date
Do you deliver to YouTube Content ID?
Yes. We manage Content ID claims for you, so there's nothing to set up on your side. If there's ever an issue with your content, we'll contact you.
Will my music be available on TikTok and Instagram?
Yes. We deliver to TikTok and to Meta's platforms (Instagram and Facebook) through Facebook Rights Manager.
What do you need from me to transfer a catalog from another distributor?
Tell us which distributor you use now and roughly how many releases or tracks you want to move. That helps us recommend the best method for your catalog, and we'll get back to you within 1 business day.
