Yes. When you distribute through The Artist Platform, you keep full ownership of your recordings, your artwork and everything that goes with them. We don't take your masters, and we don't take a cut of your royalties.
What you keep
Ownership of your music. You keep the copyright in your recordings and related material, like artwork and metadata. Distributing with us doesn't transfer any ownership to us.
100% of your royalties. We don't keep any commission on what stores pay for your music. You receive what the stores pay, minus only taxes and third-party fees, such as charges from stores or our distribution partner. If you set up royalty splits, your collaborators are paid their share.
Your songwriting. Distribution covers your recordings. It doesn't touch the rights in the songs you wrote.
What you give us
To get your music into stores, we need your permission to deliver it and collect the money it earns. So when you distribute, you give us a non-exclusive right to:
deliver your releases to the stores you choose, and let those stores and our distribution partner make them available
create the short preview clips stores use
collect your royalties and pay them to you
Non-exclusive means the rights stay yours. You're giving us permission, not ownership. That permission lasts only as long as you distribute with us. If we decide not to distribute a release, your rights to it come straight back to you.
Your music and AI
We don't use your music, artwork, voice or likeness to train AI models that generate music, voices or images, and we don't let anyone else do that through us. If that ever changes, we'll ask you first. Saying no won't affect your account.
Distributing with us also doesn't give anyone permission to train AI on your music. Read more in Can I release music made with AI?
If you want to leave
You can end your Distribution Agreement at any time by giving us 30 days' notice. When you do:
We ask the stores to take your music down. Each store removes it on its own timeline.
You download your files first. Save copies of your audio, artwork and metadata before your notice period ends.
You still get paid. We pay the royalties your music earned before it came down. If stores keep sending money after you leave, we pay that to you too.
Moving to another distributor? Don't take your music down first. Follow Move your music from another distributor without losing streams, so your streams and playlists carry over.
